Be Happy

There’s a famous Sanskrit verse about happiness, peace and health for all. It’s usually translated as a wish or a prayer – May there be peace, may there be freedom from suffering and so on.

Recently I came across an enlightening explanation. The tone of the verse is not a wish, but almost a command.

Not – May there be happiness but – Be happy.

Not a wish, but a choice. The beauty of the verse is now multiplied. For our life is our choice.

Relax, and let the verse flow through your eyes into the very center of your being. The sound will be heard by your inner ear.

सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः
सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु
मा कश्चिद्दुःखभाग्भवेत्
शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः
Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah
Sarve Santu Nir-Aamayaah |
Sarve Bhadraanni Pashyantu
Maa Kashcid-Duhkha-Bhaag-Bhavet |
Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||

Om to All ~ become Happy
All must be Free from Illness
See all that is Auspicious
May none have sorrow
Om Peace, Peace, Peace  {of happiness, health, suffering}.
